As your Chevy dealer, we'd like to tell you the easy steps of how to change a tire like a pro. If your tire goes flat while you're driving, carefully look around for a safe place to pull over. The choice is a flat area as far from other vehicles as possible. If you have to change your tire on the side of the road, make sure that your car is inside the breakdown lane. Warn Other Drivers When you pull to a stop, make sure you switch on your hazard lights. You can also lift your hood. These two signs will alert other drivers that you're stationary, and they will avoid you. It's also important to make sure you pull up the handbrake. Get Your Tools Changing a tire only requires a few items, and they are usually kept in your trunk. You'll need a lug wrench, a jack, and your spare. Loosen The Lug Nuts Use your lug wrench to loosen all the lug nuts until you can twist them by hand. Don't remove any of the nuts yet. Jack Your Car Using a jack is very easy, but it's important to position it correctly. The underside of your car has several sections that are reinforced and designed as lifting points for the jack. These sections are illustrated in your car manual. Position the jack under the closest section to the flat and lift your car high enough that the flat just touches the ground. Replace the Tire Remove all the lug nuts, then take the flat off the wheel hub and place it to the side. Lift the spare onto the wheel hub and rotate it until all the holes line up with the holes in the hub. Screw the lug nuts into the holes and tighten them by hand. Lower Your Car Lower your car and use the lug wrench to tighten each of the lug nuts securely. Put Everything Back Now your tire has been changed, it's time to put the flat, lug wrench, and jack back in your car. Once this is done, you're ready to drive away. Safety has always been a key part of every Chevy vehicle, and in 2024 Chevrolet has taken this to a new level. The key system that's making waves is the Chevy Safety Assist system. Let's dive into this system and see how these Chevy safety features protect you, your passengers, and your Chevy against potential accidents. more Forward Collision Alert (FCA) This system uses a forward camera, assisted by radar sensors if they're installed in your Chevy, to scan the road ahead of you. It calculates your speed and distance from a vehicle ahead of you, and a red warning light will flash to warn you of the potential for a collision so you can take corrective action. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) This system works with the FCA above to reduce your speed or even stop your Chevy to prevent an accident. If the FCA identifies a collision risk, a green warning icon will appear on your Driver Information Center. If you don't respond quickly enough, the AEB will apply automatic braking to reduce your speed or bring your Chevy to a stop. This system is automatically active when you're traveling at speeds between 5 mph and 50 mph. Following Distance Indicator If this system determines that you're too close to the other vehicle, it will warn you so you can reduce speed and increase the distance. Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning This system focuses on keeping your Chevy within the lane lines. If it detects that you're unintentionally straying out of your lane, it turns your steering wheel gently to bring your car back on course. The system is disabled if you're actively steering. If your Chevy continues to move out of the lane, and you're not actively steering, the system will sound a series of beeps that you need to move back into the lane. Front Pedestrian Braking This feature scans the road ahead for moving or stationary pedestrians. If it detects a pedestrian in front of you, an amber pedestrian warning light will illuminate. This warning light changes to red and will also sound an alarm if the distance between your Chevy and the pedestrian is closing too rapidly. Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist This safety feature uses sensors to switch your headlights between high and low beams depending on lighting conditions. It also monitors for approaching headlights and automatically switches to low beams until the other vehicle has moved away.
