There has been no harder-working pickup truck for generations than the Chevy Silverado. From ranches to construction sites and pulling everything from boats to horses, it’s done what pickups were meant to do: work hard. However, this is the 21st century, so you’ll find all kinds of style, tech, and adventure-ready configurations of the always-safe 2024 Silverado 1500 at your local Chevy dealer.

It’s such an enormous boost to your budget when some of the things you want most in your pickup turn out to be standard features instead of options that are available at extra cost. And the Silverado has that in spades.

Even if you’re starting with base models like the Work Truck, you will still get to enjoy the tech essentials that no one should be without these days. They include:

  • OnStar services
  • USB ports
  • Large touchscreen
  • Sirius radio
  • Support for a mobile hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto

Trim Options Available at Your Chevy Dealer

You don’t have to move up very high in trim levels to start seeing a big difference with options. For instance, choose the 6.2-liter 420-hp V-8 for any Silverado, and not only will you get a major power bump, but it will sound like a beast when you throw it into Sport mode. This engine also allows you to add the Z71 Off-Road package with a hardware upgrade that brings joy to driving around in the mud and dirt.

Starting with just the second tier Custom trim and all the way through Custom Trail Boss, RST, and LT Trail Boss, you can add the eye-catching Blackout appearance package. Top-tier High Country has attractive leather upholstery and a lovely trim of open-pore wood. It also has hands-free driving tech that, according to Chevy, even works if you’re towing a tailor. Add spacious crew cabs to seat more passengers and choose from various bed lengths to suit your needs.

Towing

Cars.com says that the Silverado is the best pickup for towing. That’s not really surprising considering that its 13,300 maximum towing capacity is several hundred pounds more than others in its class. Even the smallest turbo 4-cylinder option can pull up to 9,500 pounds.

Safety

Today’s Silverado 1500 isn’t just a workhorse, it really gets around, so powerful safety features are a real necessity. Fortunately, Chevy provides the Silverado with plenty of them as standard features on every single model and trim. They include:

  • Front pedestrian braking
  • HD rear vision camera
  • Lane keep assist
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision alert
